Elizabeth Pomeroy holds a Ph.D. in English from UCLA and has pursued a career in teaching and administration. She is an active writer and editor and taught English most recently at Pasadena City College. She has written articles on literature and history as well as books about Queen Elizabeth I and the Huntington Library, where she served on the staff for ten years. She is currently a member of the Board of Education of the Pasadena Unified School District.
Her books include John Muir: A Naturalist in Southern California and Lost and Found: Historic and Natural Landmarks of the San Gabriel Valley, which is a selection of columns from her newspaper series on historic places. She is also the author of Pasadena: A Natural History from Arcadia Publishing.
