El Molino Viejo
Robert Glass Cleland
New epilogue by Elizabeth Pomeroy

This mellow adobe, the Old Mill in San Marino, was built about 1816 and carries its years gracefully. More than a landmark, it is a slice of Southern California life. First a grist mill for the San Gabriel Mission, it was later used as a residence for a hundred years. Today it lives on, a historic site in a beautiful native garden.

Reprinted here is Robert Glass Cleland’s classic history
El Molino Viejo
(first published in 1950), a literary gem long out of print. Elizabeth Pomeroy’s epilogue traces the continuing story up to the present. The Mill is now open to all and is the setting for cultural and artistic ventures.

Rarely seen photographs illustrate this journey through time.
